Alor Setar is the capital and largest city of Kedah in Malaysia, making it the perfect spot for tourists who want to see a little bit more of the country outside of Singapore. For many the various buses and coaches that depart and enter Singapore are the best way to go about travelling to this destination so we have put together a little guide to travel by bus from Singapore to Alor Setar.
There are three coach companies that operate services to Alor Setar, all of which only run in the evening. This means that it is probably a good idea to ensure you have overnight accommodation in the city before arriving. The journey by bus from Singapore to Alor Setar takes about 10 hours.
Happily all of the coaches depart from the Golden Mile Complex in Singapore, so you won’t have to worry too much about leaving the city. All you need to do is select the right coach company for you of the three that operate services.
In the end it really comes down to the size of coach you would like to travel on as all three also offer the same price of S$42 for a journey. Sri Maju Group and Konsortium run large, 20+ seat coaches that are ideal for larger groups or those who don’t mind travelling with the pack.
All these buses deliver their passengers into the heart of Alor Setar, where they will be able to experience the many wonders of the city for themselves. These include a number of interesting museums and cultural sites in addition to the famous Alor Setar Tower. Multiple return services are also offered by all Konsortium and the Sri Maju Group.
